Congratulations!

I feel so proud to be a part of the W.H.O.R.s today. Everyone of you are so inspiring and encouraging- and accomplished!
Barb and Karen-it was so fun to see you out cheering on the sidelines! Thanks so much for being there.

My intention was to stay to see the full marathoners cross the finish line, but I wasn't able to because I broke a fundamental running rule: DON'T TRY ANYTHING NEW ON RACEDAY. On rare and random occassions I suffer from a food allergy. Certain red and yellow foods make my whole face puff up like elephant man. It starts with an itching in my eyes, and if I get benedryl in time I'm usually fine. Anyway, I think the yellow gatorade did me in. So I had to go home, take some drugs, and ice my face. CRAP. On the plus side, it didn't start kicking in until about 30-45 minutes after the race. I had a chance to eat, visit, get my bag, etc. and was just going to change into dry clothes when it started. This is the 6th half-marathon or marathon I've run, and I've never had this trouble before, but you can bet next race I'll either plant some of my own gatorade or wear my fuel belt.

I'm so excited to hear everyone's stories. I finished in 2:16:25- not my best half, but not my worst, either. I was about a half a minute behind Sheri, but I honestly did not see her the entire race. I meant to run with her, but we got separated before the starting line, and I didn't see her again until after the finish line.

PLEASE send me pictures from the race if you have them. I'll put them in the slide show I'm doing for the PMP!

I need to thank each and everyone of you. I am sure most of you know I qualified for Boston (Leslie too!!!) It would have never even enter my pea-brain, without all the awesome training I have done with you. My pace picked up dramatically over the last year, with help from the WHORs. Special thanks to Rosie 2, think she may have carried me on her shoulders a couple of times, and to Ann, who came out for my last 3/4 and yelled me thru it.....I only had 6 seconds to spare. I really thought I had not made it, and it would have been ok. Love you all!!!! Thanks!

Rosie Rocks!! I feel absoulutely bruised from head to toe this morning...not sure if it's 26.2 miles of pounding pavement or 26.2 gallons of beer and an apple martini that are culprit. I was reading Melinda's article this morning and my husband looks at me and says - why are you crying? I read to him what Melinda had written in her article..I'm crying because I hurt, I'm tired, I wanted to quit more than I wanted to finish once or twice and I'm crying because it didn't matter what time I finished in, I knew when I got across the finish line, my friends would be there and they would be excited for me! One of the best parts of crossing the finish line was having Kelly Fenno put my medal on me! She hugged me so hard and it was so awesome to see her!
Kim is truly an inspiration to me, as you all have been over the past 3 years! Dr. J, I don 't think I fully understood what you trying to explain to me last nite about your conversation with Bart Yasso....are you in? Whors will be represented well in Boston!!
See you all Wednesday!!

I think that I am in. He said that Boston doesn't advertise it, but they actually do allow about another 30 seconds. He told me to email him and he would send word ahead to the BAA to approve my application. His exact words when I told him I was 22 seconds off was "aw hell--don't take that time, you email me--Boston doesn't advertise it, but they let about another 30 seconds come in. I'll take care of you!" WHATTTTT??? It must be true, because both Tom Clow and Tracy Leverson both said that they would apply with that time as well. Mark says, Yasso has so much pull, that with his approval on my app that he thought that things would go through. I honestly don't know what to think. I am a little shell shocked and a lot sore from the race. I am proud of my time regardless of what happens!!! I do have Bart Yasso's business card in my hot little hands, though!!! Congrats to all of you--you all did AWESOME and for all of you that were out there cheering us on--thanks a mil!!! It was so incredibly nice to see a friendly face when those muscles were giving me some heck!!! You guys rock!!!

I loved the article Melinda wrote.. and found myself tearing up too. She described that lonely feeling when you drop back from the group you started with. I just knew I would never catch up. All I could hear was the lonely steps of my shoes. but,,,,hey we made it to the finish line.
Fun seeing Kim & Diane in the paper today. And ... a few familiar faces posted on-line too.

Yeah Dr J... I won't be surprised to hear that you made it in. Michael has a cousin that was short by a "tish" and made it!
All of you are such an inspiration on the course and off :)

Congratulations to EVERYONE who finished thier races! We are truly just an amazing group of women. Each and every one of us crossed that finish line with an accomplishment yesterday...anywhere from completing our first, to a PR to qualifying for the Big One! And sometimes, as we look back on the year behind us, finishing the race is the accomplishment.
I loved Melinda's article this morning and I sooo look forward to hearing everyone's stories on Wednesday night. I look back on yesterday's race and am so proud of the way I ran. I absolutely had my strongest race. I did hit my wall right as I separated from the 4:00 pacer and group. I came down on myself pretty hard for letting them go further ahead because I couldn't stick to thier "no walking" strategy.
But I was able to break through it with the assistance of some salt and really great support on the road. I have never finished with the strength and form like I had yesterday. Though I didn't hit my goal, I raced strong, smart and set a PR. You guys...our potential is greater than our experiences. We are stronger than we know possible. You are my very best friends...I've grown from you...and with you. I look forward to another year!

You are all an amazing group of women! So inspiring! I am so glad I joined RRR this year and met all of you and all the other great people in the group. Last year I had my family at the finnish line so this year I was worried as none of them could be there, but it was just so good to have all of you there, just felt like family. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this group!
I did not do as well as I hoped but I finnished and I know that is what counts!
I so look forward to the PMP party and getting to know you all better!
Congratulations to everyone and thanks again for the wonderful support!

Dear WHOR's,
A big thanks to all of you. And congratulations!! You have all worked hard and performed well. I am so thankful to all of you for helping me thru the training, the dark & cold mornings, the rain, the wind, but most of all for being my FRIENDS. We could not achieve what we did Saturday by ourselves. The group is what pulled us through. And the awesome yard/course signs too!
I ran my first Half Marathon in 2:08, right within my goal window. Would have loved to break 2 hours, but it is something to shoot for next year. Tom was there at the finish to put the medal on. I got a hug from my future step-sons who were there too. I'm still high!
The post party was great. Most of you had left (?), but Diane and I had a fun time dancing at the end of the night. Love you girl!
See you on Wednesday for more great stories & photos!
