Got the Runs on Saturday Morning????

Hi Girls!!!!
Just wanted to let you know that I am going to try to organize a 7 am Saturday run from Zorbaz on Pelican Lake. I would like it to be a regular thing that people could just show up for. I am not sure how many of you are "lake people" but I think the hills out there will do us all some good---yeah, good--or something like that!!! Many people will be training for fall marathons and the Beardsley half, so it will be a good way to get in some hilly miles in preparation.

And, of course, coffee, cold beverages and lounge chairs will be available at the Dees cabin for a little post run R&R!!! We are less than a half mile from Zorbaz.

Let me know if this is something that you would be interested in.

For those of you that don't know where the heck Pelican lake is--it is an easy 35 minute drive from Fargo--more directions to follow.

I have no excuse not to join you. My cabin is only a couple of miles from Zorbaz, and Logan works there, so I know it well. So I think I will be there alot.
PW and I are running 5-6 miles tomorrow from courts plus at 6. Anyone planning to check out the TRF on Friday?
I am going to bag out on the Leading ladies 1/2 marathon in Spearfish on Aug 19th. I do have a room, if anyone would like it let me know. I probably will cancel it next week....
Humidity sucked this am....gasp, gasp, gasp!!!!!

1) I know that I wouldn't be there every week, but would be interested in doing the Pelican run once or twice a month for sure. I welcome a change of scenary...and love to walk into the lake afterwards for recovery on the legs!

2) I plan on being at the TRF run this Friday.

3) I ran yesterday (monday) for the first time since the race. Ummmm....guys? I went 3 miles and had to walk once. I thought I was having a heart attack and my legs were so heavy. I know that it will get better, but I don't remember this long/difficult of a recovery in the past!

4) I would LOVE to run tomorrow but definately can't go at 6:00...and don't think I could keep up yet with PW and Lady M even if the time was pushed back. So, anyone want to go for about 3-4 miles at 5:45 from Courts? Let me know!

I'd love to do some Saturday runs at the lakes! Maybe a couple of times this summer. Keep us posted on dates...or at least post directions for us non-lake place owners. I love Zorbaz--home to countless great recovery drinks!
Leah, I ran a slow 5 yesterday and felt OK. Got to see fellow WHOR's Diane and Kim re-living their Fargo Marathon experience on bike. Diane, how's the Virginia today?

I would love to do some runs at the lake. It is quite a drive from where I am at but with some planning I could make it a couple times, I'm sure! I am up to meeting in DL again for some runs around that lake too if that would make a good midway point for others.
Who out there is thinking about the Average Joe Triathalon? It is the last weekend in June in Perham.

So, plan for 7a from Pelican Zorbaz this Saturday--the only weeks that I won't be there will be the ones that I am on call. I am hoping to get enough people running out there that the group will still meet on the weeks that I can't be out there.

I think that meeting in DL at the pavillion sometimes is a great idea--we'll defintately have to do that.

Directions to Pelican Zorbas:
1. I-94 to exit #15 (Downer).
2. Take a Left off of the Ramp.
3. Stay on this road until you come to "The Roadhouse" restaurant. You will hit two stop signs before the Roadhouse--go straight through them. This stretch is about 10 miles.
4. Take a Right at the Roadhouse stop sign.
5. Follow that road through Cormorant village until the next stop sign, which is ZORBAZ!!!!

Kim and Leah, I do plan to do the TRF. I plan to go this Fri.

I ran yest for the first time. I felt like I was running 7:30 miles I was so out of breath. All I could muster was 8:25---guess I lost some respiratory capacity on my week off. Or it was the humidity---whatever!!!

Hope to see you all soon!!

Jen.... ONLY doing 8:25? You suck. you suck a lot, a lot, a lot. I think our bodies are still in high-red-alert mode. they are still recovering from the race. I ran today (2nd time since race day)and it came a lot easier than Monday. None the less, Jen, you still suck. Frickin' 8:25s!? I am jealous. :)

Great Great Job on the marathon ladies! Way to go! Congrats to all! I've been "out of the loop" for so long, but I was very happy for all of you when I saw the results!!!. (smile)
Diane: I saw that you asked if anyone was doing the Average Joe...I'm pretty sure that I am doing either that one or Hoot Lake. I think Krista is thinking about it as well. Again, CONGRATS girls!!!!! Honorary Bismarck WHOR.

I will be at Zorbas at 7 bells....wait for me tho...I'll have my cell and I am a tad directionally challenged so I may end up on the opposite side of the lake!
Jane!!! Please let me persuade you to do the Average Joe in Perham! I would love for you and Krista to be there! I understand you are quite the tri-queen so any tips you have for this first-timer would be much appreciated!

Diane...fyi...there is a great triathlon workshop in Fargo at Scheels on the 7th. I know it's the same night as the RRR picnic but if you could make it to part of the workshop it would be great! I'm driving down for it. Melanie Carvell is a friend of mine, she's great!
I think the Avergae Joe is a great one for a newbie....Kathleen enjoyed it...except for her too-big wetsuit! (You won't need one)
I have all sorts of tips!!! I don't know about being a tri-queen but this old grandma did a.o.k at the one last weekend! It's so cool to hear Go Glamma Go!!! priceless.
What do you think Krista? Average Joe or Hoot Lake?
How far is Perham from Fargo, can we drive down the morning of?

GIJane said...

Okay! I just checked dates. Hoot Lake is JULY 29...I'll be at the Average Joe!!!
Diane...you in? Krista? Anybody? :)

AND if you add tassels onto the handlebars you really go fast!!
It's going to be fun!

You girls are gonna have soooo much fun. Anyone wnat to borrow my ghetto bike for laughs? You'll look like a crack dealer...or, ummm, user. You're welcome to it. Have fun!

PS Hi Janey! Have missed you, Woman! Give yourself, Mikey and Courtney a hug from the Wrigley's!

Jane - Hurray!!!! I hope my grandson can come to cheer me on...his momma is not a fan of lake country tho! Perham is 70 miles from Fargo. I(being a poor whor) camp at Golden Eagle 3 miles east of Perham. It is a quick drive from Fargo if you're not into camping.
Kathleen - Pelican is a bit of a drive from Dent but we could certainly carpool! We'll have to talk. D/pw

Diane: Is there primitive camping at Golden Eagle? I usually just through in my tent, bike and off I go....(I'm a poor WHOR)Should I make a reservation?

I think S'Mores would be a great pre-triathlon meal...... :)
