Hey ladies!
Hope everyone had a good 4th! The future Mrs. Clow, Krista, Benita, Donna, Donna's daughter and I (pluse some more folks I am probably forgetting to list!) had a hot but fun run at the MSUM 4th of July 10K yesterday.
I have to sheepishly admit the 10K was the first time I've run more than 5 miles since the marathon (I'm a pro at the 3-mile routes however), so the 10K was a great step at easing back into things. I've been looking at the 4th of July sort of as a second New Years --making a resoultion to up mileage now that it's July! And step it up I will so I'm ready for the Ragnar Relay with fellow WHORS at the end of August.
Some of you know this and some of you don't, so I'll throw it on the blog...just wanted to share that I've recently become engaged. :-) I'm getting married April 12, which should have me in all right wedding dress shape since I will be training for my second Fargo Marathon. I'm excited and Tracy Leverson (hey, it's the last day we can all write that name --tomorrow it will be Tracy Clow!) has already given me some good tips.
Hope to see you all at some runs soon since I've committed to getting back on the running bandwagon full swing.

Melinda- how EXCITING! Congratulations on your engagement....fill us in, who is he, where did you meet, how long have you dated? Nosey WHOR....
Glad you are still running and I am excited you are going to do Fargo again. Is your fiance going to do it with you?
Anyway, fun news!
Congratulations Melinda! I hope to see you on the Wednesday morning runs with RRR and hear all the details!
The now fiance is my boyfriend for more than a year, Joe. He designs/edits The Forum's sports page and is a soccer player and was a former cross country runner at MSUM. So I'm not really gaining a potential running partner, although sometimes if I squint I can see him a few miles ahead of me on runs! ;-) He ran the relay at the Fargo Marathon and was hanging around the finish line, but I was so out of it I didn't do a very good job of introducing him. A few WHORS met him at the Beardsley grand opening too, I believe. Anyhow, I am marrying into a family of super competitive distance runners, which is a bit comical for this 10 to 10:30-minute miler. I guess I can only get faster hanging around my future inlaws! My future father-in-law Rob PR'd with something like a 2:26 at Grandma's back in the day. My future brother-in-law Ed ran a 31:50 10K at the Get in Gear in Minneapolis in April (that's a 5:08 per mile --can you imagine?!?!) But they are encouraging to this beginning runner. I cringed when they asked how the marathon went and I had to say they could of finished two in the time it took me to finish one! I am trying to convince them both to run Fargo next year!
O.K. and one of these days I'll get around to making a new account...for now I'm content being Kathleen. :-)

Congrats Melinda! Very exciting news.
Congratulations Melinda!
I am so excited for you! I hope to get to some of the RRR runs on Wednesday or Sat. so am anxious to here more about him! I have been only doing 3 milers too so 6 sounds really long! Great job!
Congratulations again on the great news!! It was fun running with you yesterday. Though I have to admit you were really cruising along despite the heat.
I am anxious to get back onto some running schedule. Though -It will have to wait until our vacation at the lake.
We leave on Saturday and will be gone for a week. I have BIG plans on getting Michael to run with me while we are thare... I will need some "luck" on that one.
Hope to C'ya all soon!!!
Holy buckets, you guys have been BUSY! Again, congrats Melinda. I hated planning my wedding...but I love planning for others...so, let me know if you need help. And Joe's a great guy! Melinda, the farthest I had run since the marathon was 8 miles....and this past weekend, I ran 14....just out of nowhere. Man, I need to get back on the horn...the GRR and Detroit coming up! Girls, I think we should really try to schedule a group run soon!!! I have been out of town lots, but hope to be at the run this Saturday and Wednesday for RRR. Anyway....congrats!!! looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Congrats Melinda! I am looking forward to hearing lots of details soon and probably a lot more during the Relay! Happy planning. We need to do a group run soon, I miss everyone so much!
Melinda - Congrats, congrats, congrats! I'm so excited for you. I have just been thinking that I haven't seen hide nor hare of you lately (is that the right phrase?), and popped out here to see you have a couple of posts, and are continuing to run, which is awesome! I have been slacking, and only doing 4-5 milers a couple times of week, and they seem tough. I can't believe I did 26 just a couple weeks ago. I have come to terms with the fact I'll be a morning runner if I want to get them in, so hope to see a few of you on some Wed am runs.
CNGRATULATIONS, MELINDA AND...REALLY FAST RUNNER/FORUM SPORTS PAGE EDITOR! WHAT'S HIS NAME?
THE WHORS ARE VERY HAPPY FOR YOU TWO LOVE BIRDS. LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING HOW HE POPPED THE QUESTION.
WE'RE BACK FROM DISNEYLAND, WHERE WE ENCOUNTERED TWO DADDIES BRAWLING IN OUT OVER THE STANDING-ROOM-ONLY SPOTS TO WATCH THE FIREWORKS ON THE 4TH OF JULY!! ONE KICKED THE OTHER'S STROLLER (WITH TH EBABY IN IT!!), WHILE THE MOM WAS CRYING AND SCREAMING, "THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH!"
IT MADE FOR A MEMORABLE 4TH OF JULY...AND GOOD RUNNING STORIES. I HAVE MORE THAT I'VE BEEN SAVING, BUT NO LONG RUNS IN MY NEAR FUTURE. I'LL HAVE TO TRY TO CONDENSE MY 20 MILER STORIES INTO AN ABRIDGED 6-8 MILES.
HOEP TO SEE YOU ALL SOON. MISS ALL OF YOU. WE'RE GONE A LOT IN JULY. KIDS AND I ARE OFF TO PHILLY FOR 2 1/2 WEEKS OF FUN AT THE BEACH WITH MY FAMILY. WAHOOOO...
BEST WISHES, MELINDA AND...
