Beardsley Results? Anyone?

The gun goes off and the rain litterally begins to fall. And not just a mist, certainly not a down pour, but enough to be soaked after the first mile. And it lasted the WHOLE WAY....all 3.1 or 13.1 miles. So, I didn't stick around long after crossing the finish line. I was FROZEN!!! I waited only minutes to watch a few of you cross....and quickly realized that my fingers were turning white and the foil was no longer doing its job of keeping me warm. All it was doing was preventing water from hitting my shoulders...and rolling it down to my legs. Speaking of my legs, sloshing through the packed gravel/MUD was a trocious on my legs; not to mention I think I ruined my shoes.

I did however have a great race. I didn't train well, and Diane kicked my A** around on the streets with sub-9:00s earlier in the week so I thought for sure I had destroyed my race. But, to my surprise, I ran a 1:59 and change. Not my best (but close) and definately not my worst! (I dont' know what the chip time was...I didn't stick around because again, I was FROZEN.) How did everyone else do?!?!?!? My inquiring mind wants to know!

Sheri and I ran the whole way together, and Sue caught up with us before mile 3. We did a run 10 minutes, walk one minute the entire way. I ended with a 2:22:14, which like, Leah, isn't my best, but not my worst, either. I was surprised because I hadn't run a race taking regular walk breaks before, and very encouraged by my time. My Dad was at the finish line, and he said I looked the best that he had seen me after a race, so that was encouraging, too. I think I'm ready for Chicago!

We didn't stick around after, either. Sheri needed help getting her glasses on and starting her car because her hands were so frozen, and my family was cold and ready to leave, too.

It was sure nice to see Donna and her family cheering us on the lasat stretch of the race. It is so great to be a part of such a supportive group!

I had a good run on Saturday as well. It certainly wasn't my best either but m y goal was to maintain a 9.0 mile pace for the entire distance and was right on track until I hit the #$%@#ing construction zone!! After that mess of mud and potholes, my feet felt like they weighed 10 lbs each! But I felt good at the end - thankful I kept my jacket on and wore tights! Sorry I couldn't stick around after...I had to go trick or treating at the lake...more rain and mud! Looking at the results - it looks like everyone had a good run!

Did anyone else feel like they were going to loose their skirts/shorts??? My clothes were so wet they were falling down!!!
I got sick late last week with some kind of chest virus--and it still has the best of me. I some how managed to push it aside for the race and tagged the 1:45 that I wanted so bad last spring in St. Cloud. Loved the cool weather, could have done with a little less rain and a little less mud. Tried to stand at the finish line, but started turning funny colors and so headed to the truck to change. Not seeing all of you at the end made it rather anti-climactic, but it looks like overall, everyone had a good race!!! Congrats to all!!

I actually think the rain helped me run better. I know this sounds dumb....but there's more oxygen in the air when it rains...and I believe that makes a difference! Agreed, not seeing everyone at the finish makes it anti-climactic...or however you spell it. But it's fun to know that so far, everyone who's posted sounds like they felt good about the results.

By the way, Barb.....my butt chaffed AGAIN! Fortunately, I was babysitting my niece all weekend....so I used some of her butt cream. :)

Way to use the resources at hand, Leah!!! That diaper rash is a bugger. It might even make you say L-ZAY-GUL!!!!

Hello all, as Benita said we tried the 10/1 approach. I felt great at the end and had a good kick for the finish. It makes me very excited for Chicago.
Hilights were the Fargo Marathon Rest Stop, it rocked and felt like it was our own rest stop. Also, I heard many RRR cheering my name at the finish. That was great!!!
It was not my best half, but I do believe it was my best DL half. It was my first long run without music, my first walk/run approach, my first traill run (mud puddles) and the first time I have started and finished with someone. Benita and Sue were awesome to run with, they made it my favorite race.

I agree with all of you that this was a good race even tho it was wet! Much better for me than too hot! It wasn't my best half but not my worst either. I had such a great time running with Benita and Sheri and was so glad i had caught up to them..At the start I could not find anyone so was worried I would be running alone. Had I not been with them I am sure I would have been much slower!! You are all such great support..hearing the cheers at the end was all worth it. So often about mile 10 I just hate it...but not this time...it was fun, even with the mud..The Fargo people at mile 8 were definitly a highlight! congratulations to all of you who I didn't see after the race, and thanks so much for all the support!!

Way to go gals! It was fun watching you all pass by. OK, fun to watch, but not that fun...in the rain...recovering from pneumonia...wet & freezing. Looking forward to running again. I had a change of clothes, so I warmed up and the hot Zorbaz pizza helped too. Sue shared her macho nachos so I was very happy. Did I mention the beer too? Tom rocked a 1:28 - amazing. And I took 3 naps.

Both my kids ran their 1st half marathon. Rachel did hers in 2:35:45. Her goal was to beat her dads time. (His was 2:35:15!!). I told her she had a tougher course...rain, mud, hills. I think she felt better. Travis did great for not really training 1:49:02. Me? I ran the 5K in 28:42. I was able to find my time by bib number only. It came up as "Unknown Athlete". We decided the computer was confused because I don't typically run 5K's!!
We had a good time. I enjoyed cheering from the vehicle. It was a challenge finding many of you :)
