My sister and Las Vegas

Ladies, this is completely unrelated to running...
I am taking my sister to Las Vegas for her bday. I've been there once before and stayed at the MGM...but I think it's out of my price range this time around (for the dates we'd like to go). I am looking for somethign on the strip with a GOOD pool system...meaning, there aren't a lot of screaming kids...and possibly an adult pool....but also somethign that's not totally spendy, like the Bellagio. Looks like the Tropicana might be an okay bet. Has anyone been to Vegas and have any feedback for me?
Thanks!!!
Leah

Leah, I stayed at the Tropicana about 6-7 years ago. Pool was nice & big, but the hotel was in dire need of updates (cheap) compared to the newer hotels. I stayed at the Mandalay Bay a couple years ago, and they have a wave pool, regular pool, and a little stream you can float around on a tube. It was awesome, but I remember it was busy (right before Halloween). Expensive hotel but I found a special on the internet and got it cheaper than the convention rate my friends paid.

Leah, I stayed at the Excalibur (sp?) last Feb. The hotel is not great (clean but in need of some updates) like some of the hotels in Vegas but it is inexpensive and they do have a nice pool! I did not see any kids at the hotel or pool when we were there.

Leah,I talk to my sister and she suggested trying travelocity or something online.. she did not really know what the prices of the hotels were now. She did say Mandalay Bay had a great pool, beach and all. Good luck and have a great time in Vegas........fun city!

I stayed at Tropicana last year, and it wasn't bad. Hotel was a little dated, but price and pool was right. Also, stayed at the hotel right in the middle of the strip that was owned by the guy from GF (drawing a blank on name of hotel and the guy). The hotel was more dated than the Tropicana, and the pool was not as nice, but nice to be right in the middle of the strip. I think using hotwire or one of the online travel sites is probably your best bet.
